Promoting our airport

The Air Service Development Division is a Chamber support and promotion division with two main goals:

  • To promote Fort Wayne International Airport (FWA) to existing and potential airlines in an effort to increase markets served, decrease fares offered, and otherwise support the customers of the airport.
  • To develop the overall marketing campaign for the airport.

About Air Service Development

The main responsibility of the Air Service Development Division is to promote and market Fort Wayne International Airport to current and potential customers both within and outside the community. The Air Service Development Division is available to make presentations to any group who wishes to explore the advantages the airport offers and the challenges that lay ahead.

The Air Service division also regularly holds community events to further promote FWA including a “state of the industry” presentation from a nationally renowned air service expert and an annual “home for the holidays” contest for soldiers and their families, and more.

About FWA

In continuous operation since 1948, Fort Wayne International Airport supports both commercial and private aircraft as well as providing support for the 122nd Fighter Wing of the Air National Guard. Thanks to the longest landing strip in the Midwest, FWA is capable of handling even the largest aircraft reliably and with operational integrity. Fort Wayne International Airport has been repeatedly recognized for its efforts in these areas.

Known for convenient business travel, FWA’s tagline is “business at whole new altitude.” FWA supports non-stop direct flights on Allegiant, American, Delta, and United airlines who provide service to Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Myrtle Beach, Orlando, and Tampa.

The Friendliest Airport in the United States

Often referred to as the “Friendliest airport in the United States,” FWA volunteers and staff promote a welcoming spirit by providing each arriving passenger a specially produced cookie that symbolizes this commitment to friendliness and community. To date, FWA volunteers have handed out over one million cookies. Opportunities are open to anyone who wishes to join FWA’s enthusiastic group of volunteers by helping to welcome airline passengers to Fort Wayne.

In addition to being nearby and convenient for residents, the staff at FWA is committed to customer service from departure to arrival. So from the moment you step into the airport, you’ll experience the warm, friendly attitude that sets FWA apart. Situated on more than 3,500 acres with multiple developmental opportunities, supported by United States Customs and Foreign Trade Zone designation, FWA provides not only easy access for the over 1.2 million people in the region, but for cargo and logistics as well.

Although is well positioned to serve the current and future travel needs of the residents of Northeastern Indiana, Northwestern Ohio, and Southern Michigan, FWA and the Chamber’s Air Service Development division continues to aggressively pursue opportunities that will add to its menu of services and provide enhanced and expanded flight opportunities for the region.
